"And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord.
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior." (Luke 1:46-47)
Many years ago, when I was just a boy, I would visit Latanier Baptist Church. It was just a quarter of a mile from my house. Some of my friends went there, and often invited me to come to church with them.
The church had an elderly pastor named Eugene Austin. He and his wife were just common people that loved God. He would always have a good sermon to preach at the church.
As a boy, I was often distracted, and would day dream during the service. But one Sunday morning, God touched my heart, and I heard Bro. Austin say something that I have never forgotten. He said, "You will never be happy, nor have joy in your heart, until you find your place of service for God."
I believe that most people are looking for something that will make them happy. But they are looking in all the wrong places.
Mary, the mother of our Lord, had found utter joy, and a peace that surpasses all understanding! She says as much, even though it would completely alter all of the plans she had for her life.
Her soul magnified the Lord, and her spirit rejoiced in God her Savior. That says it all!
Where did she find such bliss? She found it by finding her place of service!
God will grant unto you such a blessing when you surrender to Him, and bow before Him, confessing that He is Lord! When you give yourself unto Him, and offer Him your allegiance, and faithful service, the joy and satisfaction comes.
But don't think for a moment that you will find happiness in the tangible things of this world! No, it all flees away, eventually, and you are left with rot and rust in the end.
Turn to Jesus, and serve Him! That is where happiness is found.
From my heart to your heart.
